The first week's discussion is about job-hunting. What has been your experience so far in looking for work - either part-time, or for the full-time job you hope to have after graduation?

Welcome Back, Juniors!
Hello to all the 3rd-year YPU students who will be taking Academic English IV and Jissen English IV!
Since many of you will be taking both classes, I've decided to try something new: I've set up a BLOG to help us connect the two classes. We'll be studying academic writing twice a week (on Mondays and Thursdays) and focussing on reading skills once a week (on Wednesdays). To link the class, let's try writing about the topics we read about to inform our classroom discussion.
Here's my idea: Each week you will have be reading and doing exercises in the ACTIVE Skills for Reading. In each chapter there are discussion questions. To help prepare for the following week's class discussion, write a short comment on the blog in answer to one or more of the discussion questions. You will be assigned to do this at least once in three weeks (but you can do it more often if you like). The blog posts will be due on Monday morning. On Monday afternoon, I'll print out some of the blog posts so we can work on writing/editing skills in the Academic Writing class starting at 2:30.
If some students are not participating in both classes, they can still join the BLOG activity in either course if they like. It will be a good place to ask questions, make comments, and share your ideas for making your English study more effective while getting to know your fellow classmates better.
Let's try it!
